Customise the cPanel interface
The cPanel interface organizes features into boxed sections to allow you to find related features quickly.
- To change the order in which these sections appear, click and drag a section’s heading bar to the new position in the interface.
- To hide a section, click the icon in the top right corner of the heading bar.
- To reveal a hidden section, click the icon in the top right corner of the header bar.
How to Edit .htaccess in cPanel’s File Manager
Before we begin, it is recommended that you make a backup of your website so that you can restore it if something goes wrong.
To Open the File Manager
- Log into cPanel.
- In the Files section, click on the File Manager icon.
- Check the box for Document Root and From the drop-down menu, choose the domain name you want to access.
- Make sure Show Hidden Files (dotfiles)” is checked.
- Click Go. In a new tab or window, the File Manager will appear.
- Look for the .htaccess file in the list of files.
To Edit the .htaccess File
- Click on the .htaccess file and click Code Edit from the menu.
- Click Edit to continue. The editor will open in a new window.
- Edit the file
- Click Save Changes in the upper right-hand corner when done. The changes will be saved.
- Check your website to see if your modifications were saved correctly. If not, fix the problem or restore to a prior version until your site functions properly again.
- Once complete, you can click Close to close the File Manager window.
